 Beyond the Book: These Dark Wings at the Tower is an integrated three-phase creative writing and learning program: The Characterisation Workshop (October Half-Term 2017), Meet the Author (Jan - July 2017) and The Tower at War (February Half-Term 2018). All events are designed by the Explorer Team at Historic Royal Palaces in collaboration with author John Owen Theobald, and hosted onsite at the Tower of London. Meet the Author sessions are run in partnership with Pop Up Projects.

The program is run in collaboration with the Tower of London, Historic Royal Palaces, and Arts Council England, and provides free writing workshops for young people and learning events for schools from deprived areas.
